Showcase
Unfortunately
we've lost our venue for the Saturday Showcase, so we're hoping
that all the amzing talent we had lined up will be willing and
able to transfer to the extended Sunday Showcase. This will make
the Sunday even more of an event not to be missed!

Tom
Bryce is
an exciting young, new talent from Australia. For over two years
now this singer songwriter has been mesmerising audiences at the
bottom of the globe with his contemporary ballads of life, loss
and change. Inspired by the English underground folk music scene
of the 1960's and 70's Tom’s musical taste and technique
is heavily influenced by the work of Nick Drake, Davey Graham,
Jackson C. Frank and Bert Jansch, to name but a few. In his live
shows Tom has been described as - “captivating” with
“a gentle yet expressive voice…and a talented guitarist”
He returns to England to tour, reconnect with his roots and share
his music with a new audience.

Peter
Green (aka Warwick Slade) used to run aFolk Club
in the Isles of Scilly in late '60s ("where Dick Gaughan
introduced me to single malt whisky!") and then in the New
Forest in the early '70s. Peter sold his guitar to pay his rent
about ''75 and retired. The lucky man then won a guitar in Acoustic
Mag competition about 3 years ago and started to play again. You
can hear him each week at Wimborne club where his 'stage' name
of Warwick Slade evolved.( "Joke is- he writes my songs")
Peter/Warwick plays on the odd cruise ship ...mm, hmmm wonder
who plays on the normal ones..........

Sandi
and Jeff have
been singing together for three years, and have become familiar
faces in the folk clubs of Hampshire. Originally, and still, singers
in their own right, together they include both traditional and
contemporary material in their repertoire, and it's not unknown
for Sandi to launch into a Music Hall number when the mood takes
her! Jeff has also collaborated with Brian Hooper (Hampshire folk
scene stalwart) on a project "Southampton In Song" producing
a cd of the same name.

Stuart
Pendrill started playing in folk clubs in the
sixties, then, after a few years, drifted into the rock and pop
world. By the mid eighties, family and business commitments, together
with a waning enthusiasm for the type of music he was playing,
he stopped writing and performing. However a couple of years later,
whilst he was in Australia, Stuart's passion for music was rekindled
and he started performing again wherever he could. When he returned
to the UK, Stuart started playing in his local folk club and found
that his music was very well received. Now Stuart Pendrill can
be seen at clubs and festivals all over the country and as he
says, "I'm doing something I love, and I'm having so much
fun. Who could ask for more?". www.stuartpendrill.co.uk

The
Button Band is
from Clayesmore School, which is in between Blandford and Shaftesbury.
Over the past five years folk music has developed in the school
and this band consists of four girls - Arisa playing the fiddle,
Rowen on the flute, Amy singing and fiddling with Emma holding
it all together on the keyboard. They also allow their rather
"past it" science teacher (David Humphreys) to play
the fiddle along with them. Although it is a youthful band, they
are accomplished musicians and enjoy playing traditional music.
The Button Band delighted the audience when they appeared at a
Yetties music evening last autumn and we're sure that folk in
Weymouth will appreciate their contribution.

Mezzo
sing for you in their own unique style. Wonderful, multi-layered
acapella arrangements of songs traditional and modern that make
the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and send shivers down
your spine - great stuff!.

John
Langdon As a singer and dancer in the South Somerset
/ North Dorset area, John has, in the past, used traditional songs
and music as a high energy entertainment, usually at the front
of a small band of musicians, the last of these being Proper Job.
He is now pursuing a solo career, singing and playing his own
compositions to some acclaim. His inspiration comes from the local
area and from many of the colourful characters he has known. He
believes that if traditional music is ever to be popular again
with the masses, it must set out to entertain. Come along and
see what you think .....

Steve
Donnelly Having been involved with all sorts of
music over the years from covers bands to musical theatre, Steve
always comes back to his first love, folk. After a long gap, he
is back playing on the Hampshire scene where his blend of traditionally
based tunes and self penned songs have gathered quite a strong
following. One of his most popular numbers is "keeping the
old songs alive". Something he looks forward to doing at
Weymouth.
